If the canvas is not torn or in extremely bad condition have you considered dyeing the canvas top and/or replacing the rear plastic window?? This will save you a fortune compared to replacing the roof.
I'm about to dye my blue roof and apply a product called "HindSight" to my rear window I will update all as to the results.
