OEM vs Numeric shift cable

OEM vs Numeric shift cable
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about preventatively replacing my original shift cable in my 04 that is at 125k miles.
I'm leaning towards the OEM due to the NVH that Numeric cable adds, but there's surprisingly little information that I can find regarding the replacement process for the OEM cable.
Anyone that has done it please share your thoughts and if it's a pretty straightforward process?
Suncoast seems to have the best price for the OEM cable (and their website says latest version - whatever that means?) I tried to get the part number or more info on the "latest version" but their customer service wasn't very helpful in that regard.
Should I attempt to fix the NVH problem and replace it with Numeric cable instead?
Thanks!
