Default 2001 Boxster S Inner CV Joint R&R

Hi, has anyone done an R&R of the inner CV joint or boot? The Pelican DIY article is a bit unclear as to whether just the inner CV joint cen be replaced without dropping part of the exhaust. Deciding whether this is a Winter barn project or one I wait until Spring for when I can use a local lift. Thanks.

I'm doing that job right now. I had to drop a section of the exhaust to get the axels down. I'm gonna clean them out and reboot all 4.

I got a pair of quickjacks for the job. I really like them so far.

Would you say that the exhaust drop was necessary if one were just doing the inner? Mine are fine except for the one that was cut by something on the road.

You probably could get away with replacing the inner boot without dropping the cat section of the exhaust, but I'd imagine it would be kind of a pain. That side does have a little more space to move around.
