They should, but I haven't installed them yet as my Boxster is my shop car and a bit harder to pull out to work on in its current capacity. I should be able to plug in at least one of them in the next few days to test (one Litronic headlight lacked the headlight washer mechanism and the other has it, making it slightly more complicated). I will attempt to plug in the 'non headlight washer equipped' light to see if it works as a true plug and play option.

Nice! Been thinking about retrofitting down the line. Just got the LED lights installed on mine last night and overall i’m pretty satisfied. Good amount more light output, and aimed properly they’re not blinding. Would only recommend for cleaner lenses though, if yours are foggy they have a tendancy to dazzle so i’d polish/restore headlights before installing.

Here are some pics:

@stomish that definitely looks like a LOT more lighting than the stock halogens!

It’s definitely a good bit more - i’d conservatively say ~40-50% more light output. Need to refinish my headlights and get matching highbeams too (since my stupid self didn’t realize there were two separate bulbs lol) and i’ll be super happy with it.

I have installed the passenger side Litronic and can confirm that it does illuminate properly without any funny business. Meaning, it's truly plug and play. However, I have been cautioned that cars that are born with Litronic headlights have motorized leveling in play, and my car absolutely does not have any motorized leveling capability. I'll know more about how they are aimed in the coming weeks, and don't drive the Boxster often at night since it's a shop car/race car. But, it's quite obvious that there is much more light output coming from the Litronic (which should surprise no one).

My 03 S came with factory litronics, light output was dangerously pathetic. Beyond just replacing the D1S HID bulb, I replaced the entire projector unit with a new bi-xenon kit from Retrofit labs in the UK. I did a similar upgrade on the 993, many years ago with great results. Modern bi-xenon projector, with hardware kit, new HID bulb’s , and I added an LED for the standard high beam bulb, for the Boxster.

Initial adjustment was needed to align the cutoff’s, now razor sharp. Didn’t have the opportunity for a complete darkness drive until this past Friday. Low beams still need a little more upwards adjustment, but those bi-xenon projectors high beams and those supplemental LED high beams….their out rally light equivalent amount of lighting.

The Phillips D2S bulbs were the most expensive piece of that…bi-xenon retrofit projector kit with hardware is very inexpensive.

Highly recommended, completely plug and play….super easy.

I just watched the retrofitlabs install video. That looked pretty involved, did you disassemble the light to make it happen? Looks like a lot could go wrong in the disassembly process

All the work is done thru the access cover on the back of the headlight. Just need to have the torx bit with the hole in the center…I refer to that as a “tamper proof” type bit. Tricky part was installing the LED high beam bulb, the heat sink on the back necessitated unclipping the small wiring harness to install.

Really simple process, with fairly standard tools. Just three screws hold the OEM projector in place, two of those have small rubber washers under them.

Hi Boxster fans
I have a 1999 Porsche 996... same headlight issues as the Boxster. You guys might be interested in this... I installed the Retrofit Labs Bi-LED kit a couple of years ago, and it is an amazing improvement. I just got around to posting a very comprehensively detailed video about a month ago. You can check it out Part 1 on YouTube here :

These look super nice!! Highly considering, since my inner diffusing lenses have burn marks on them and it's kinda unsightly. Cheaper than a pair of litronics too

Thanks!
That's the reason I did my Headlights over also... unsightly burnt inner lens.
and yes ... relatively inexpensive option, compared to the Litronics like you said, and cheaper, better looking.. and probably better quality... than the fully assembled plug and play aftermarket LED units out there. IMO

I’ll add to that - the retrofit labs kit is very well done. The work appears to be daunting, but is really very straightforward.

Another reason I did the conversion was that the light output from my original Halogen headlight bulb was pathetic. Not even safe on the highway at night... really.
The new LED projectors are WAY brighter.
