Sorry it didn't work out for any of us. I really wanted a matching set of desk chairs and ottomans (base or back of back seat) for the garage.

If I did find a compatible engine what should I expect to pay to have the old one removed and the new one put in by a competent shop? Thanks.

I also second (or 3rd/4th/etc) the AOS - when it goes it looks and sounds tremendously bad, especially if you aren't very familiar with DIY work on cars. I highly doubt the engine is "toast" based on what you said.

It was the AOS. However, the pressure from the oil in the cylinders seems to have bent some connecting rods.

I see that a rebuilt Boxster engine can be purchased for $10k. That's a lot of money but not the $23k I was thinking.

Been looking for a suitable replacement engine for months without any luck. One thing I have noticed is that 00-02 engines seem to be available but 03s are very rare. Is there any issue with using an 00-02 engine in my 2003?

Thanks
