Yes you do, you will need the appropriate weight range seat and the deactivation and attachment bar that goes under the seat. I have been told the dealer is suppose to install the bar at no extra charge when you purchase the seat.

See your thread in the 996 forum. If you buy the Porsche seat, it is true the dealer must install it at no charge. Since you need the deactivation bar and would have to pay to install it if you got a non-Porsche seat, you might not save as much as you think by going off brand.
