Default Clutch

Please Help! Replaced slave cylinder and have used Motive pressure to bleed air out of system. Bleed the system 1/2 dozen times (clutch up / clutch down). Each time I close cylinder bleeder valve, clutch only goes 1/2 way to floor. Hope someone with similar problem found solution

Thanks Mark

If you are using a motive bleeder you shouldn't be touching the pedal at all. And by now you also have air in the brake lines which will impact your clutch and most likely your ABS system. You need to bleed the entire system and dont touch any pedals. Just put fluid in the bottle & reservoir, give it 20psi pressure pumping the handle then start at the rear right brake, rear left, front right, front left then clutch.

Quit touching the pedal!!!!!

In all honesty though, it would really just be better to take it to any shop and have them bleed the entire system with all the struggles you are having. It really wont be more then 1 hour.

Thanks so much for the info. I'd would like to take the car in for service, unfortunately the soonest apt is June 3. I'm in a rural area. I'll try your suggestion Sunday and reply. Just curious why does the pedal stop 1/2 down?

My experience is much different than this. I always use a Motive bleeder to pressurize the reservoir, flush the brake system, and do an initial bleed. Then with the Motive still pressurizing the system and fluid near the top of the reservoir, I have my wife stand on the brakes while I do a final bleed the old fashioned way. It might be over-kill, but this sequence has never failed me.

Clutch systems are a bit odd though. Sometimes you have to physically pull the pedal back up to the top. As long as you maintain fluid near the top of the reservoir during the entire process, you should not have any problem with air in the system in my experience.

Good luck.

Ya I think the problem I'm dealing with is more than just a slave cylinder. I've the whole system multiple times. still the same problem, the clutch pedal will only go half way down once I shut the slave cylinder bleeding valve any full pressure is on the cylinder. My thought; The cylinder nipple is not hitting the clutch fork properly, (i cant imagine any options in the slave intall, or the fork is not working properly. Maybe a throwout release bearing problem??? I have not heard any thoughts from anyone have similar problems (clutch pedal only going half way down)

Thanks to everyone Mark
