I am now a Boxster Owner (Pictures Added)
I am now the proud owner of an Arena Red '99 Boxster with a grey top and 33K on the clock, the car is absolutely beautiful (aren't they all) I am picking it up on Saturday, when I get back from a business trip. It was at a VW dealer and they took it to the local Porsche dealer for a PPI and service, everything checked out fine
It has the sport package, 18" Turbo look wheels, full leather and premium sound. I had driven an '00 and this car back to back and this one felt better mechanically and structurally, the newer interior was temping, but I plan on upgrading the look with one of the many kits available or from a wrecked car.
I would love to hear from other 2.5 owners on things to look out for, modifications that work and those that don't.
Thanks,
X2
P.S. I paid $24,300, was this a decent deal?

Congrats! Enjoy it.
Sounds like a good deal to me. I haven't priced Boxsters recently, and it seems prices are all across the board. But 33k is low miles for a '99. My 2000 has 33k, and I don't drive it every day.

Congrats on your purchase. There are tons of mods you can do on the Boxster and many web sites that provide step by step instructions.
My first suggestion is that you pic up a "Red Clip" when you pic up your car. It's the cheapest "mod" you will ever do!
Good luck and Enjoy!

I just looked at the price on the link I posted (too high).
Pick it up at your dealer (part no. 986.504.986.00 ) and it should cost you around $0.50

X2 - Congratulations!! You'll have a blast with it. I paid $22.5 K a year ago for mine with 42K miles, so I think you got a pretty good deal.
As for mods, I'd recommend a B&M short shift kit (no affiliation). You can install it yourself in about an hour, and you won't believe the difference in how the transmission feels.

Thanks for all the links and advice, I will not get any sleep tonight, I got about 4 hours last night. I have been driving my wife insane with Boxster stuff.
What does the "Red Clip" do?

The red clip attaches to the top release catch when the top is down. The part was created to keep owners who use the "humps" from raising the top without first stowing the "humps".
However, the clip has the side benefit of allowing you to keep the internal motion sensor part of the alarm active (with the car locked of course). This allows you to lock the car with the top down and have the motion sensor active (a nice feature to have if you want the alarm to go off if someone reaches in your car for your sunglasses, radar detector, etc.). Without the red clip the motion sensor is normally deactivated when the top is down (even when the car is locked and the alarm sytem is "active").
If you test the alarm on your car be aware that there is a second or two delay (after you reach in) before the audible alarm will activate. This is normal.
Enjoy!

I'm in love! With the car and my darling wife who said yes. She's the other beauty in the picture with my sales guy Ric, who also drives a '97 911. My traded in Cooper S is in the background.
