Default Dad's 99 Boxster blew all of its fluid out

Hey everyone, it's been a few years

I'm currently trying to troubleshoot Dad's Boxster. Non-S with the tiptronic transmission.

He was driving home from work and stopped to look at a car for sale on the side of the road. He left the car running. He said that it starting to make some kind of buzzing noise and he's sure it wasn't the engine bay fan. He got back in and started driving and within a very short distance the transmission blew all of its fluid out, huge mess all over the road and under the car. Follow up to this, he said the few days leading up to this, it did feel a little jerky... Almost as if the OD lockup was acting up. I have the trans out and I hope to have it in the air or on a stand this weekend to pull the pan and valve body. We're pretty sure it's shot with the way it felt rotating the wheels when it was on jack stands. We're wondering if anyone else has run into this and what their experience and outcome ended up being.

Thanks!

I've had no issues with the Tiptronic in my Daughter's car, and I haven't gotten the impression that the Tip is troublesome. So, I'll be watching this thread with interest. Good luck.

When torque converters fail they blow trans fluid all over like the Exxon Valdez. Any cracks in that converter or busted vanes inside?

I didn't get a notification for this reply. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Not that I could see but I'll check again when I get off work.
