Default Boxster - Interior Paint Mods

I have started some Interior paint mods on my Boxster, the car is NOT finished, I still need to purchase a Red leather E-Brake cover, and also I need to finish the steer wheel with Red leather on the top and bottom of the wheel, but here is the work so far.

The photo is a little dark, if you want add some gamma to it.

Yeah, I know the size is big, but it should re-size in your browser window.

I would hope your using IE.

Hi Vampyre,

Nice work on the door handle,

wanted to do the same for my car but was worried about having uneven paint finishing...

Is there a special kind of paint to use? How did you do it?

James,
This was an easy mod. Pop off the door handle covers and then wash them MANY TIMES with dish soap to remove any oils, like Armor All or similar products.

Then you can do this two ways.

You can go to a body shop and have them mix up a can of your car color, and if you have a spray gun you can shoot the pieces yourself. No clear coat is needed. Or have the shop shoot them.

Or you can go to you local hardware / auto store and buy a can of
Plasti- Kote paint in your cars color, or close to it.

Then spray paint the handle covers. No need to prime the surface, but if you find the paint is not even you might had to use a like 600 to 800 grit sand paper to make the area accept the paint better.

I did mine with Plasti-Kote and did them over a couple of days, each day I would add 1 to 2 coats of paint for a total of about 6 to 8 coats.

If you add many layers of paint you will lose the factory finish of the part and it will become a smooth finished surface which is fine if you like that.

Let me state these plastic parts are CHEAP to replace so if you mess it up or what to return to stock, you can buy them from a wrecked Boxster or buy them new.

My car is NOT finished, I'll be adding a Red leather steering wheel covers at the top and bottom of the steering wheel. I will also add a Red leather boot to the E-Brake
