Default Door lock failure

Hi all

On my list of future fixes for my base '97 is to have doorlocks that works as as they should.
Not dreaming of remote control. Just that I can open both doors when I unlock driver door.

What I have today.

Key in driver door:
- can unlock and lock driver door only.
- but only if passenger door allready is locked.

Key in passenger door:
- can lock and unlock both doors and fuel lid as well

So my logic says that something is wrong with driver door lock..
Any suggestions?

When you lock the car with key in driver door, does the horn beep once or twice?

On my 1999, there's only a keyhole for Driver door, no keyhole in passenger door.. My passenger door also couldn't be locked with key in driver door, and the lock button on center console didn't lock passenger door as well. Anytime I tried to lock car with key in driver door, the horn would beep twice, signalling a fault in the lock system.

I replaced the passenger door assembly (bad microswitch possibly) and it fixed it. Bought a used one off ebay (part # 3B1837016P) for about $45. Taking the door panels and lock out wasn't too hard either, just followed this youtube video

Locks fine now with key and center console button.
