Hi All,

I am trying determine if there is a difference in gear ratio between the boxster and boxster S tiptronic transmission.

Or do they both share the same setup except for the tiptronic ECU ?

Please help...thanks

Yes, the final drive ratio for the boxster S is much lower. The other gears are the same though.

Hi Brian,

So that means, even if i upgraded my 2.5 engine to 3.4 but retained my 2.5 tiptronic transmission, the top speed of the boxster S would still be higher due to the final drive ratio?

I have been on travel for some time and just noticed this information. I can't exactly answer your question - but will relay information from the 2002 owners manual.

For 2002 the gear ratios between the Tip in the Boxster S and the Tip in the Boxster (non S) are exactly the same with the exception of the final drive. The final drive in the Boxster S is significantly higher then the standard Boxster. Ironically both Tips are listed as Tiptronic S and I am uncertain whether that is correct.
