Default Turbo in Boxster

Hi all.

Does anyone have any good information about this?
I've seen some race versions of Boxsters with 996 engines.

Would it be possible with a 996 Twin Turbo, and so what else needs to be changed?

Now, I'm looking for a solution that DOESN'T require a total custom build.

Cheers

Hang on. You want to put a 996TT motor into a Boxster, but you don't want it to be a custom build?

Impossible. That is the definition of "custom build".

Check out TTP, they offer a 3.6L TT conversion - I think it's achieved through boring out the engine. Gemballa have a similar program - Boxster GTR500

I hate to think of what would be involved let alone the cost. Now a Chevy V8.....

Check out Rami's twin turbo 3.2 http://www.ramis-porsche.com/

I see a difference between total custom, and custom.

Of course it's a custom build, since it's not officially provided by the factory...

My point is that the modifications, except the engine, shouldn't be to extensive. The problem is to get the Turbo in the engine bay, since it requires more space then the N/A 996 engine. Cutting out in the chassi, would be more extreme for example.

I'm also a bit worried about the balance of the car...

The Turbo 996 motor is a completely different block, FWIU. I think it is similar to the GT3 block, with both being based off the older GT1 block. Jeff could probably shed more light on the subject, but I understand it's close to impossible to make it fit.

You'd be a LOT better off turbocharging the 3.2S motor.
