Warning
My wife and I are out running errands in our Boxster. My wife says she feels invisible in the Boxster in a sea of SUVs. Five minutes later a Lexus SUV (backing out of a parking space) backs into my driver side rear quarter panel (damage to quarter panel, bumper and tail light!). Driver says she looked and didn’t see us.......

Now her insurance company says it was 50% my fault....that we “hit each other”, even though I was hit on the side of our car by the back of her car (SUV).
Gotta love insurance companies (Nationwide in this case).

Sounds like this driver preferred to use the ***-end of her SUV to do the looking for her! Depending on the age of this Lexus you'd think it would have been armed up the wazoo with backup cameras, sensors and rear side approach warnings! All more things that this driver most likely ignored!
Good luck, hope you get the settlement from the insurance company that you deserve.

I always go through my insurance agent who then deals with my insurance company who then deal with the opposite party's insurance company. Makes sure that the person I talk to is looking for my interests. I do not talk at all to the opposite party or its insurance company other than exchanging information and take pictures at the scene.
I am even more careful now after an idiot woman scraped my Mercedes rear bumper cover in a parking lot. I offered to have them pay me instead of going through insurance and getting a penalty. She stiffed my for $50 when the price of the repair exceeded the original estimate by that amount. Never again!
