Red face a word of caution

boxsters on jack stands, how much on each jack, aprox 500 lb,s. saw an automotive show that claimed , that a porsche owner , bumped or nudged the stand , or release lever, and it came down on him. it appears they can be made to release with to little of weight on them. food for thought.

Me too! But when I worked with jack stands I always had a backup system, at least the jack usually wooden blocks under the wheels or under the chassis. WIth the Quick jack I put my jack stands under the ends of the Quick jack.

Not a bad idea, you can never be too safe.

On the other hand, that story is hard to believe. For the QuickJack to come down it has to push the hydraulic oil through the pump if the safety bars fail. The car will come down very slowly, if at all!

the OP is not saying a QuickJack failed, but some jack stands failed
