Default Lowest Mileage Boxter S in the world??

I have a 2001 Boxter S with 286 miles that I purchased in an auction. This car was stolen brand new from a dealership in 2001. State police say it was hidden indoors for 18 years before being recovered late last year.

Could it be the lowest mileage 2001 Boxter S in the world???

Discuss...

One wonders how many and which components may have dry rotted during that time. It would also be interesting to hear what Jake had to say about an IMS that had been sitting still for that period of time.

Looks like in perfectly good shape, must be stored in a climate control storage. And it's a stick, lucky you!! Curious how much you paid for it as is?

It could be.

But probably is not

+1, need details. How much at auction? Great find.

Why steal a car just to store it ? I could see if it was uber rare or unique, or insurance fraud.

Why purchase a no so rare or unique car just to store it? That happens all the time. Friend of mine found a 1994 Corvette with 900 miles on the odo. Guy who bought it put 900 miles on it the first summer, wrapped the interior / car in plastic and never touched it for 15+ years.

My friend put about 1,000 miles on it over a few years and sold it to another collector. Noting was wrong with the car, zero leaks, even had the original tires (which my friend did not replace).

congratulations, great color, great car. We are all curious though as to the price. Also does it have a clean title? Many times these theft recoveries have salvage titles

10.5k bitcoin or Walmart money order.

Surprised no one has asked yet what oil are you running?

Seriously, cool story cool car.

Post what else you can about the auction price.

Also, did you do anything like fluid change, oil, coolant, brakes, gas etc... before starting her up?

I’d be interested in the operating hours.
That would tell you if it were started during its time in hiding.
It should only have about 8 hours.
