Default 2001 boxsters ims

I just bought my 2001 boxster s with 66000 miles my question is the car was mfg in April 2001 does it have a single row or double row ims bearing, I don’t think I will replace it and just drive it like I stole it.thanks Jim

More than likely, the single row bearing - worst of the bunch based on the PCA IMS videos. Of course, do you know if any of the previous owners changed it out?

Replacement engine, rebuilt engine, already done, could be anything. Only way to be sure is to look at the mounting hardware with the transmission off. No matter what anyone says on the net, those associated with the most IMSs say the same.
