Default 2004 Boxster S convertible roof Liner issue

Hi Guys, i am trying to identify a piece of plastic that broke under the roof liner next to the edge of the conv roof.
The roof was making a slight noise when driving and i isolated it to the front where it meets the windshield, i felt the liner and there was a plastiky
part that felt loose, as i tried to feel my way and see if i can tuck it in i felt and heard a plastick cracking noise, now i am even afraid to engage the top.
I looked at the parts diagram but not seeing anything, any body has any advice or part name?

Thanks

A picture would help. Very hard to visualize what you are describing.

The liner is held on by a plastic u-channel that grips the metal ribs of the top. The plastic has probably grown brittle due to heat and is cracking. Your best option is to just remove the liner. It serves no purpose other than to hide the structure of the top. Early cars didn't have this liner. Pull it off and throw it away.

a customer just rolled in yesterday with his 2004 Boxster with the same problem. He had the broken off plastic strip in his hand. The only solution is a new headliner for 800 dollars as that strip is made on to the headliner and is not replaceable. Really too bad as the headliner flops and there is really no other solution . I sent him to the trim shop to see if they has a reasonable solution without butchering the car.
