Default Slight clunk sound when moderately accelerating from a stop

Hey guys, first off, I hope that you are all outside enjoying your Saturday and not at home surfing the web.... but if you are and happen to read this...
I noticed today that when I accelerate moderate to hard from a slow roll or from a dead stop that I'm hearing and feeling a slight clunk sound from the rear of the car. It also does this when immediately doing a hard stop after the acceleration. It doesn't seem to do it or, at least I can't hear it when accelerating slower or in higher gears.

I'm heading into the garage now to jack up the car and have a look. If you have any ideas or obvious places to look, I'd love to hear. Thanks, in advance.

You don't say if the car is equipped with a manual or Tip transmission.

A clunk under the circumstances you describe can be a bad dual mass flywheel. The "clunk" is the dual mass part having failed.

With either type of transmission the clunk can be a bad motor mount, transmission mount, a bad CV joint/bearing, or a loose suspension bushing/connection.

Almost certainly the car will have to be lifted in the air and an inspection made for any of the above. For the dual mass flywheel failure possibility a road test by a qualified tech is probably the best way. One doesn't want to drop the transmission to address a dual mass flywheel problem unless he is absolutely sure that is what is going on. 'course if the dual mass flywheel is at fault the odds are that would be the time to renew the clutch hardware.

Thanks for the feedback. The car is of the manual variety. I should also mention that it has about 70k miles on it.

Yes, in my case it was the engine and/or transmission mounts. Replaced and all was good.
