Default I have a 1999 Boxster and need to replace the trunk lid logo.

The one I'm removing is black and original. From what I've been able to read, it looks like 1999 only had the Black logo and the Titanium (shiny metal) version was available on the 987 models. Is that correct? I just bought this car a month ago and it only had $19k original miles. It's in beautiful condition and I want to keep it as original as possible. Any guidance/advice is much appreciated!

Congrats on the score. And welcome to the Kingdom of Renn.

Pelican Porsche Parts could answer your question and probably sell you a new badge. Really nice guys, they have a bunch of online how to guides, too.

Thanks, Brian! I have a Black one on order from Suncoast. I was just curious about how folks felt about sticking with the original black emblem versus putting on a shiny metal emblem. Is it bad form to put on an accessory that wasn't designed for my year?

It's your car, do what makes you happy. I've seen all kinds of non-standard trunk badges on Boxsters. I did this:

My 2003 986 has a black emblem but like the previous poster has stated, it's your car and do whatever makes you happy. It's cosmetic and can easily be switched back to factory for very little cost if you change your mind in the future.

I ordered my 2003 Boxster with the emblem removed. I like the look with no emblem. Also make it easier to wax the trunk!

Mine had a broken "B" so I debadged. I like the clean sheet look.

they are plastic of course and have fragile ends, so a car wash renders many of them history, or a hand wash without paying careful attention to the emblem!!
