Default Brake Pads

I may need new brake pads soon on my boxster s. Was wondering which brands are good & where to shop? Any recommendations for what I should go with?

Also are there any quirks I should know about before doing this job?

From what I understand, Textar is the OEM manufacturer of pads. The pads on a 987 Cayman R/Spyder fit regular 987 cars and are considered an upgrade. I have used Textar pads on a 987.2 and have great results with them at a much lower cost than Porsche branded.

In terms of quirks with the job, not really. There are all kinds of tutorials online, it is a really easy job to do. Be careful about how you treat the sensors. New sensors are inexpensive, have some ready to go. The rest is straight-forward. Never hurts to measure your rotors and make sure they are still up to spec.

I have a set of Textars on my SLK for over a year, so far happy with it and the brake dusts comes off easy. A brake job is pretty easy, just need the basic tools such as sockets, piston compressor, brake cleaner spray, and a jack w/stands . Make sure you a particle mask and have a cord to hang/suspend the caliper.

I agree with the Textar pads. We have the best results with them in our shop and by far they are the most popular seller and the factory recommended pad

I justed installed Texstar on the rears but haven't driven the car yet (its winter up here). Pelican has a large choice of pads and rotors. There are lots of DIY videos, etc. Pads alone are pretty easy. Rotors are a bit more work especially when you run into a seized stripped caliper bolt but thats part of wrenching.
