Default cracked cylinder head

I have a 2001 Boxster 986 S with a cracked cylinder head (4 to 6).
In Australia, the prices of replacements are ridiculously high and the outcome uncertain whether it will re-occur.
Are repaired heads reliable in people's opinion ?

It depends who repairs them. Best to choose someone who does Subie heads in large numbers.
That may be difficult in Oz. Last time I visited my fav Machinist in Costa Mesa, he was doing some Subie heads for customers in Oz. !
Check out Costa Mesa R&D .He is an old curmudgeon. So don't expect charm. He literally wrote the book on Machining.

He has lots of videos:

Use the telephone only !And don't try to impress him with your 'expertise' ! He is competent, honest.great price but slow.
or Hoffman Machine for a more conventional approach

I would find a good used head and have the guides and seals done (along with the other head).

Are 2.5 and 2.7 heads the same? If they are I have a pair off of a 2.5.

Default Cracked head

Thanx guys, I have sourced good 2nd hand head and will have it crack tested before instal. Will replace the IMS, rear main seal and water pump to avoid any nasties later. I had already bought a full motor so will have spare fully sorted one for sale later when I know all costs and can put a fair price on it.
