Front toe out is just one tool, it can be used to help reduce under steer at entry, mid and exit, especially if you have added front roll stiffness with bar or springs, to help reduce inside wheelspin. The best setup for corner exit is often one that causes under steer (normally stiffer front bar, rear toe in, softer rear shock settings etc) .. So toe out can be a nice helper. Anything you can do to help you enter the corner and still get on the power early, and stay on the throttle in transitions, will help. I run about 1/2" of front toe out on both the stock cayman and the SP car, one full turn of the tie rods from zero toe.
