996 curb weight
The MY99 996 carrera hit 3113 lb on the scale, driverless. Searched the web for curb weight on the MY99 & results were all over the place. Wikipedia had an optimistic value of 2904 lb, which is what I expected to have stock.
The options I have are 0220 limited diff, standard leather heated seats with electric adjustment, leather rear seats, sound system with CD changer & Turbo twist 18" wheels (non-hollow) with 225 fronts - 265 rears. Could these options get the curb weight 200 lb higher than the listed curb weight?
Did you weigh & if so, what was the initial weight of your 996?
The regimen will consist of: Muffler delete (fabspeed bypass pipes), Carrera lightweight wheels, spare, jack & floormats removal. (M030 suspension will also go in but I don't expect significant weight changes in doing so).
Any advice on weight saving?
Muffler delete saves a ton of weight. I think the only sub 3k 996s are MY 99s with sunroof delete and bare bones options.
You can always drain out washer fluid!

If I understand right, aftermarket seats are out of the question (Street Touring level prep) but the GT3 seats are a possibility..? Quite an expensive one but still...
What about GT3 seats replicas?
Ref: Street Class section 13:
Alternate components which are normally expendable and considered replacement parts (e.g., engine and wheel bearings, seals, gaskets, filters, belts, bolts, bulbs, batteries, brake rotors, clutch discs, pressure plates, suspension bushings, drivetrain mounts, fenders, trim pieces, fuel filler caps, etc.) may be used provided they are essentially identical to the standard parts (e.g., have the same type, size, hardness, weight, material, etc.), are used in the same location, and provide no performance benefit. The allowance for use of such replacements does not include camshafts, differential covers, or ring-and-pinion sets, nor does it authorize the use of piston rings having different configurations (e.g., “Total Seal®”) from those of the original.
Hardware items (nuts, bolts, etc.) may be replaced by similar items of unrestricted origin. Safety wire, threadlocker compounds, and locking nuts

are permitted. These allowances are strictly to allow components to be replaced from alternate sources other than the original manufacturer. They should not be construed as an allowance to replace components with those which could be considered a “higher performance” alternative. Parts available as replacements through the dealers parts department, the factory, or any other source which do not meet standard part specifications (e.g., hardness, size, etc.) are non-compliant in Street Category, except as specifically provided elsewhere in these rules.
I'm going to employ the Bigfoot hypothesis here and say that since no known/documented United States of American 996 has an XSF, XSE, or XSN option code, the gt3 buckets aren't allowed. If we can find one, it would be. The replicas would seem legal if they were the same material and dimension, but I would never feel safe with them.
If anyone doesn't like it they can protest me, if I lose the protest, I'll take them out.
I'm a far way away from that - currently running a second slower than the cars on the RE71rs.
