What's your experience with the useful life of these tires (RE11, AD08, RS3, Star Spec.....) before the performance starts to drop off? I'm thinking in terms of the number of autocross runs.

This class of tires seems to last a long time without heat cycling out.
I have a set ZI Star Specs on my Boxster that I installed in March 2011, which have seen about 90 auto-x runs + 6 track days + 8,000 steet miles, and are still going pretty strong. I ran them last week at Barber, and only had 2 cars pass me the whole weekend (one GT3 and one very good driver on newer RE-11's). But, I think they are a little past their prime without getting some serious heat in them.
I also had some AD08's on a BMW that was still winning it's class in autox after 3 years of street driving and about 120 auto-x runs.
I hate throwing still servicable tires away, but I'm ready for some ZII's.

I had a set of of Z1s that lasted over 120 runs + driving back and forth each event on our STR S2000, this car only weights 26xx Lbs, The RS3s lasted a bit less, I would say about 80 runs in AX + minimal Stret driving. On heavier cars these numbers will be lower.

Thanks for the feedback.....I've got about a 100 runs (plus to and fro) on AD08's on my 964....still tread left, though they are 3 years old.

I can't remember if I did new tires at the beginning of 2012 or not... I'm pretty sure I did though (AD08's). Which means I've got at least 80-90 AX runs on them, plus 3 days (x2 drivers!) at Road America, a full day at Autobahn... and there is plenty of tread left. For sure I should get another full season of AX on them (with 2 drivers...) plus at least 1-2 more DE's before I'll think about replacing them.

I got typically between 120-200 autocross runs plus 5000-10000 street miles on star specs before performance would fall off. I really never noticed a lot of difference until they started to wear down close to/past the treadwear indicators.

I set my first ever top PAX with my star specs at the wear bars last season on my old car. I went through a full set plus a little more in about 60 runs, but my old car was hard on fronts.

I'm also giving a thumbs up for the Star Specs. I had them on my E36 M3 for about 10k miles on the street, and about 40 autocross runs. Didn't notice much of a change up to the wear bars either. I too have the new ZII's fitted now, but have only done a little street driving on them, no input for autocross yet.

I ran Star Specs on a heavy car... autocross/track day/more autocross/street miles... began to lose it as they approached the wear bars.
AD08's on a lighter car: At least 100 runs autocross on really bad surface, 3 track days. Fronts are at 60% tread, rears at 40%, still lots of grip.
