Putting Koni yellow's on my 944 and was just wondering what other autocrossers are setting their's at for both driving and autocross. I don't want to take them off and adjust them every three or four weekends, but still want a fairly comfortable ride. Any siggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Well the fronts are externally adjustable, so dont worry about that.
The rears go by spring rate, my car is a good bit heavier than an early n/a...but I set the rears to about 75-80% stiff...the n/a guys I've talked to set em around 50% or less if stock T-bars.

I guess I should have stated I'm referring to the rear shocks only. So I take it for the stock 944 N/A, around 50% stiff would be best, and the turbo cars can go stiffer to around 75-85% on the rears. I'll go ahead and set my at the halfway point.

I set my rears at half as a jumping off point, figuring that I'd end up changing the setting a little once I got used to the feel. So far they're still at half (4-6 months) but I just ordered the fronts to match and expect to bump 'em up a little once the fronts are in. Right now, at half the rear is much stiffer than the front but the fronts are stock, worn and in the last month or two the right side has started to leak.

FYI There are some front Konis (from M474 pkg from '89 S2) that adjust like the rears (compress and turn) and did not have the external *****. I have a set of these and they are yellow. Not fun if you want to make quick changes.
Data point, I run half on the fronts and ~3/4 on the rear.
Cheers,

FWIW I've been told by a very knowledgeable tuner that the yellow Koni's in the earlier 951's like my '86 are not the same as the regular Koni yellows. Yes, they are adjustable the hard way (taking them off and twisting)but the valving is not even close. You'll see an improvement by going to the externally adjustable Koni's (Yellow).
