It would be interesting to see the responses to this same question if posted in the DE forum.
Having done the DE thing and the AX thing, my interest is more towards AXing.
* Becca will drive the P-car in an AX but she will not drive it while DEing.
* AX has less impact on the wallet.
* AX has less wear and tear on the car (a much debated point).
* AX has trophies.
Apologies for the washed out pic, but these are our 2008 AX awards.
Mens second and Ladies third (PO3) in the Parade-Charlotte AX.
Mens and Ladies 2008 First Place (in class) for the local PCA Region.

I have a shop w/a trophy wall w/stuff dating back to 1973 - snowmobile racing, dirt bikes, snow skiing, and AX. street value = $80.00 max for all. cost? thousands, but what a great friggin time! getting some folks to understand that kind of "investment" is a lost cause, I feel sorry for them/kinda
I think the AX gang I've had the honor to mix with are a hoot. we usually have a few run groups w/50-70 cars total. nobody has to be out more than an hour or so at a time. works pretty well for all.
I like being out on the track to see all the other drivers at work, check out lines & just enjoy being in the middle of all the fun. even got chased by an out of control mustang driver - 2x on the same turn! nothing like only having a bale of hay and a cone between you and a 3500lb lump that's spinning toward you at 50mph, hahaha wouldn't trade that kind of fun for anything

funny you say you wrecked your M3 at DE. A local autocross club President wrecked his M3 at an autocross. Light pole came out of nowhere!!
Not sure who said it but "Safe autocross drivers make for safe track drivers".
Wish I still had my Miata, much better car to pound on. Porsche stuff gets expensive, particularly those intermediate shafts and that thing their connected to.
