I've seen the 265 Kumho on your generation of car; I just don't know what was done to make them fit. If I find out this weekend I'll post about it.

So nobody likes Kumho V700 for autocross, only V710? Let's say I have to choose between V700 or Yoko Advan Neova/Bridgestone RE-01R to stay in the same AX classification - which one is faster? I know the V700 has a 50 treadwear rating but in the autocross environment will they get warm quickly enough to compete w/ 140 treadwear tires?

G96: Assuming both come in the sizes I wanted, I'd try the V700s first. Not only should they provide a softer compound, but starting tread depth is only 6/32" instead of the 10/32" of the street tires. My Kumho Victoracers gave good grip at autocross (better than Michelin Cups or RA-1s), and I've heard that the V700s offer similar grip at autocross. Tire Rack does recommend shaving V700s for any dry application, and I've heard that they are a little more "sensitive" than the Victoracers.

Funny that you should ask this question. I have run the V700 on my 997 and on my second set of rear tires. At the last event, the fronts wore out. I've bought some RE01-Rs in 255/35/18 to replace the 245/35 V700s; I'll see if the RE01-Rs can keep up with a set of Kumho V700s that have three events on them already. In 255/35, those RE01-Rs happen to have a 180 treadwear rating instead of the usual 140 rating.

I won't run again until 3/8, but I'll report back on what I find about the RE-01R v. used V700.
