Default Azenis 615 fans... tire pressure ques.

An AX friend is having trouble zeroing in on an optimal (range) AX hot tire pressure for his ~3000lb. BoxsterS. Any suggestions from experience with the Azenis 615s? Other insights?

thanks,

kj

My 968 weighs 3,050 lb. I emailed Falken and they suggested starting at 40psi cold and work down from there.

615s have a serious sidewall!

I suspect he will end up in the lower 30s - I generally look at wear into the sidewall when 'dialing in' pressure.

Hi Mike: We had 10 Porsche drivers vs about 20+ Corvettes. It was a nice course, but more open and Corvettte friendly than Porsche drivers would have liked. The Corvettes won again sadly. We could have used more Porsche drivers.

On my Boxster S I've found that if I start at 32/36 and adjust depending on the course to 35/37 hot the car is very well balanced. You have to adjust depending on course layout as some will heat the fronts a lot faster than others.

With lower pressures they heat up a lot faster and tend to "go away" quicker. With higher pressures they will slide too much. Anything over 38 hot on the rear and you can't get any decent bite out of the corners.

I'm running 225/45x17 and 255/40X17 615's on replica twist wheels.

I have 32/37 on 225/45x17 and 255/40X17 Azenis 615 for my Boxster S. The car oversteers a bit but I like it this way. You can lower the pressure a bit to get a better grip, but then the car doesn't respond as promptly. Just my 2 cents, I am still quite new in AX and tires.
