Rear pressure to taste to some extent, on that setup the rear end moves around a bit but isn't remotely unstable or snappy.

Our experience has been that they don't really care about temperature. They're good cold but don't seem to mind being incredibly hot. We've been spraying some mostly just to make sure we don't melt all the rubber off of the outer shoulders.
This makes some sense to me… the fastest 981 in our group likes to drive a loose rear end and is extremely successful. I’m not quite there yet. Takes some time to learn when you only get 7 minutes of run-time once per month on a different track every time. I’ll get there…

I find them to be not great when hot on the back of my car; they just kind of go away.

Yeah, they definitely get a bit greasy hot. Nothing terrible but they definitely do fall off. They have to be pretty damn hot to get there though!

Completely this with my problem only enhanced by excessive heat up front. The clock just doesn't lie.

Consider strongly what Mr. Greer sayeth, as he is a National Competitive Driver and no one would be shocked if he wins SS at the 2023 Solo Nationals run early this coming September!!

Between events, I bought different wheels 9 &11 x 19 and so had my tires swapped to the new wheels. At the advice of the race shop to raise tire pressures, I ran with 32/33 all day Sunday and had good success. These tires didn’t seem to mind being somewhat hot. I didn’t take temps at the end of the day but my best run was the last and had literally back to back runs due to a re-run. Guy ahead of me caused a red flag. At any rate that was my best run of the day! The car seemed stable and predictable.
I ran in Sport Plus mode with PSM on. I was middle of the pack in my class, 5th of 9 and got ahead of another Porsche that previously had been a couple seconds ahead of my. I did bring a sprayer but didn’t see the need for it. We had 95 degree air temps. The only thing that was kinda annoying was the side of the car parked toward the sun would build higher pressure than the shaded side so I had to do some math when setting pressure. So when I say hot pressure, I mean I left the grid with 32/33.

I tried the 71RS on the front of my 997 this past weekend. Ended up at 28-28.5 hot with my 1.4 deg of camber. Wear was very good and the tire was very consistent through the run and run to run. I also sprayed immediately after returning to grid and then a few minutes later. They were still warm to the touch but I could easily hold my hand there.

On the back I still had my yoks. So far I like this combination quite a bit. I ran those at 30 hot, also with double spraying.

BmacIL,

Glad you got tires, as it seems the throng of 1300 plus drivers coming to Lincoln for the 50 Anniversary of the Solo Nationals has depleted the fast tire stock in the US. I have some friends who are going with old rubber as they can't get in fresh stuff in their sizes. Good luck in AS!

Thanks!! I had no trouble getting the size (255/35R18) from Tire Rack a couple weeks ago. Lucky me, I guess. I'll be there making up the midpack with my B Street car

I am hoping to do well as a " Tirewarmer " and not be DFL with the school of Corvettes and the swarm of Porsches in the Class. My son has done well in the past and he could run either SM or SSP, but this year he thought he would stick with SSP after a second place finish at the Spring Nationals.

Kinda off topic but I just ordered the X73 kit from SunCoast and have been informed it may not arrive for 4 months! Fine for me but really?!? That’s 1/3rd of a year… I wonder how long a whole car would take, lol.

Ha ha, not a huge deal but wish it’d get here sooner. It’ll be a nice winter project. I’m getting a new drive belt, just because, and a motor mount insert. I might do those sooner…

Double check your alignment. The first two alignments from a very well known shop on here had the toe misaligned (car pulls to the right) which led to a lot of brake instability when I brake hard (close or over 1 G).

It was fixed when I got it realigned by a local shop.
