For those of you who listen through their computer, if you haven't listened to the improvement that a USB DAC can make check out

What would be the difference between that and this:

I used to have an old school micro and it worked really well, especially for my optical setup in my Z3. Sadly, it found a way into the washer and never worked again. I was looking at the micro 2 and possibly try and get it working with my android phone through USB OTG. I noticed the Dragonfly is around $250, which seems up there for a USB DAC.
Here's my new acquisition for headphones, the Grado SR60s. I also have Audio Technica ATH-M50s for a more neutral studio sound.

While I am no the expect on USB / DAC conversion, I found a decent article.

There are many things to look for in a USB DAC starting with asynchronous transfer.

I've had a set of these for five years and still amazed by them. Used them almost weekly for airline travel. Amazing sound

Spirit one from jm lab focal
If your using apple products to drive them it's a good value headphone.
I have an extra pair to sell for 200$ if needed.
Terrible on the plane ..superb at home.
If your looking high end under 500$ this is a good option.
Grados with a nice tube amp are my favorites...
Bang for the buck jm labs are difficult to beat..

We have Grado SR60's, AKG 271's, and my favorite Etymotic ER4P with the P to S adapter, depending on whether you want to use it portable or stationary.
I just picked up a Meridian Explorer, combination USB DAC and headphone amp. It is a great DAC for my audio setup, and I think it is a pretty good headphone amp, too. I listened to it today with the AKG's and it sounded great. Don't know how it would sound with the others yet.

Gotta free gift Audi for all the cars I have bought from them - Parrot Zik headphones. Wireless with many features, EQ built in ect. Use them in bed when the Mrs is sleeping and I still want to watch TV. Check'em out
Use Ultimate Ears for buds.

Some coworkers and I currently very obsessed with headphones, and we all own multiple sets and swaps etc, for the hell of it. Shures, AKG, Grado, incl. Ref 1, Senn Amperiors, 580, 600, 650, Beyerdyamics, AR, Mr. Headphone, Philips T1 , B&W, VModa, and a bunch more. After auditioning at least 15-20 pairs (alone and amped) I choose the Sennheiser Momentums and I love them. The comfort and the sound are well balanced, punchy and just plain fun, both amped and straight from an iDevice. If you are looking for wireless the Parrot Zik was shockingly very very good.

I'm partial to the higher end grados, but they are not great for public listening due to the open back design. I use them in my office run off a dedicated dac/head amp.
