Years ago n another home I had a pair of ML Monolith loud speakers. They were very good and worked well in the space. I initially use them in "passive" mode with a pair of Levinson mono blocks. I had the active cross over as well so I decided to give it a try. The difference was very vast. It allowed me to adjust the low frequency output and cross over point. I would say the improvement was very positive.

I have a pair of Infinity Gamma with an active crossover driven by 2 Krell KSA200s. Very detailed better spatial presentation and much deeper base. Can be played without the active crossover but the sound is dull
