JoyeAuto installed in 991.1 - Queens, NYC
Finally have the JoyeAuto installed in my 2012 991.1, also installed backup camera and dash cam. Pretty happy with the wireless Apple CarPlay so far, music sound quality is very good - can't tell any difference from OEM PCM bluetooth/iPod input. Like how JoyeAuto installation is OEM look.
Sorry for the shaky back up camera picture...

I am planning on adding a JoyeAuto unit to my GT4. What backup camera did you use? Also, when you say you included a dashcam, what exactly did you install and how does it work? I know that the JoyeAuto unit can support a front-facing camera, but, I was thinking that meant one mounted on the front bumper for use while parking. Integrating a dashcam seems interesting. Thanks.

- There is a super detailed thread about JoyeAuto installation:https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1045...r-991-1-a.html
- Dash camera is stand alone, it is not connected to JoyeAuto. I had it professionally installed so you don't see the wires and it turns on/off with thee car, the dash camera can record video on an MicroSD card and can be viewed/downloaded to the app on your phone.
- Yes you can connect a front-facing camera and a rear-facing camera to JoyeAuto and have both turned on while parking
Dash camera used:
Standoff screw nuts (for the JoyeAuto card installation inside the PCM):
The whole thing took a good 5 hours as it is the shop's first time doing it, they watched a few videos on Youtube. I'm sure they can do it much faster next time, haha
Let me know if you have any questions, if you are ever in NYC I can show you how everything look/works. I'm pretty happy about the upgrade so far.

Installation looks DIY-able, but as I need a backup camera installation, and I have no experience with hiding the wires and the JoyeAuto box in a tidy way, I sent it to a local shop.
Coming from a 2017 Macan, I miss the backup camera and Apple CarPlay, now I'm all good!

Just labor...they are not cheap but they upgrade stereos, installed backup camera, dash camera, blindspot cameras for me on multiple cars in the past 6 years, I think they do a good job. Send me a message if you want to see my install sometime, car is in Queens.

Hi Todd, sorry I'm not sure if they used both or just one type, I bought both based on some posts on this forum. If you are close by (NYC) I can give you some for free.
