Default Manual 987 with Tiptronic Wheel to Control Aftermarket Stereo

I have a 2007 Boxster 987 with manual transmission and standard steering wheel with triangle airbag. I'd like to install a Tiptronic steering wheel and use the switches to control an aftermarket stereo (i.e. volume up / down, and next / previous track) via the wired remote input on the head unit. I have done a fair amount of research on how to tackle this, but am not able to find a clear path forward. Please reply with any pointers or insights you can share.

I have two key questions
1. Tiptronic steering wheel install
I think the actual replacement of a steering wheel is well documented. What is required in way of wiring and components beyond the wheel itself? Are the switch outputs powered from the car via wiring?
* On the 993 tiptronic, it appears there is a clockspring
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...cdr-210-a.html
* and maybe a wiring harness involved
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...heel_radio.htm
I'm not sure if this applies to 997 / 987 as well.

* On a separate but related path using a multi-function wheel, it appears there needs to be a control module and wiring harness.

2. Tiptronic switches to aftermarket stereo connectivity.
a. Where is the output from the tiptronic switches found? Meaning what physical connection output do I have access to get from the wheel to the stereo? I am not finding this anywhere.
b. What is the output? How do I adapt the switch output to the aftermarket radio wired remote input? The closest I have found is a 993 thread, that seems to suggest that several resistors and a custom made harness is required to be created to interface with the head unit.

You might ask why I don't just upgrade to the Multifunction steering wheel. There is a kit, but my understanding is this is meant to control a stock Porsche factory head unit, not work with aftermarket.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Can't help with the install.... however I can tell you I have a multifunction steering wheel and it works with my Alpine head unit. Bought the car recently so have no idea how it was done. But the volume, tune, source etc all work from the steering wheel. I'd try calling CAI-store.com
id be willing to bet this is what is installed on mine.

Thanks for your reply. It appears the kit you suggest is for adapting a factory Bose system. My car does not have that.

I did contact Suncoast about their Multifunction Switch Conversion Kit #997MFSWX. They indicated it only works with Porsche radios.

Worth calling them to see if they have one or could make one. Let us know what you find out and how it all goes.
