Default Centered Steering Wheel After Alignment

I recently had an alignment done and the steering wheel appears not to be centered. I'm not sure if it was like this before the alignment, so my question is: When they do an alignment can it affect the centering of steering wheel? Thanks in advance.

Yes. They have to lock your steering wheel in the straight ahead position when they adjust front toe. If this is not done properly it will not be centered. You will have to get them to repeat front toe adjustment with proper alignment of wheel. No worries about driving it though, just annoyance.

Surely they don't remove the steering wheel to do the alignment! I can't imagine. Locking it down shouldn't involve removing it.

No they do not remove it. They should use a tool that wedges between the floor or seat and the wheel that keeps it straight and from moving while adjusting toe
