Gt2 rear sway bar upgrade
#18
Thought you might find this interesting. over 3.5mm larger diameter.
The install was easy. 20 minutes R&R start-to-finish. Raining too hard now to really test it out, but excited to stiffen that rear and pull out some of that understeer.

I used the middle setting. Odd, it came with paint masking stickers over the middle hole. Inside and out is bare metal. I assume they do that for a reason.
Yes. The sway bar is just four easy access bolts, and once broken loose spin right out (although they had evidence of blue Loctite). The OEM drop link bolts loosened easily, but took a needle-nose vice grip to hold the center in order to get them all the way out. Undo the the OEM drop links first.
I preset the Tarret drop links the same length as the OEM when I had them out. It only took a second to adjust the Tarret's to neutral once I had them in place. I used more blue Loctite on the four sway bar bolts, but the drop link nuts are Nylocks. You do have to get the drop link spacers on correctly. You want the the drop links as close to straight up and down as possible. It's possible to get the spacers wrong I guess, but not rocket science. the new bushing have to be on correctly, but it's self explanatory when you see the brackets.
I jacked the car up and put blocks under the tires, with jack stands under for safety, but not touching. Ira at Tarret told me it's a little better to adjust the drop links with the suspension loaded.
Super easy DIY mod.

Yes, much easier loaded. Tape tells the installer where to set it initially, yes it's there for a reason. The middle is ideal for normal street work, still much stiffer than stock. I use the inner hole/full stiff for tight technical tracks like limerock, full soft/outer hole long fast tracks like Watkins Glen. Other guys do the exact opposite, either way great to have OEM adjustability.
It works great with stock drop links, no issue there. Enjoy.
