Congrats. The 991s are really great cars. Very substantial with a lot more solid feel. You can really noticed the old school DNA still left over in the 997 once you've had both.

Nicely done, car looks awesome. The top looks really tight, the pic in the shade looks as if the car is a coupe. Im sure you will enjoy it. Congrats.

Thanks. I believe that the cabriolet top in the 991 was significantly redesigned compared to the 996 and 997 cars. It's actually a full hard top that is covered in canvas. I think may of the components are made of magnesium. That's why it looks so smooth.

That's a really cool feature and it looks great. Congrats on the purchase/upgrade! I've long since been "against" the 991 for the fact that it is a bit bloated in dimensions, but if I'm being completely honest the 997TT is kind of more GT than tossable little sports car anyway. So the 991 is just a fantastic GT car with more tech and more power than the 997. The color is cool too.

Now in keeping with your model year upgrade pattern (based on your previous Porsches) you should be due for a 2022 model at some point.

Thanks. I was worried about the 991 cars being too big and heavy compared to the 997 cars. I agree with you about the 997 TT, and the cabriolet is the heaviest variant. I dug into it a little bit, and the 991 is not as much bigger as I thought. Here's what I found:

997.1 turbo cabriolet: 176.3" length, 72.9" width, 51.2" height, 92.5" wheelbase, 3,649 lbs.

991.1 turbo s cabriolet: 177.4" length, 74.0" width, 51.0" height, 96.5" wheelbase, 3,516 lbs.

If these numbers are correct, then the 991 is only 1.1" longer than the 997, 1.1" wider, 0.2" lower and weighs 133 lbs. less.

It's still essentially a GT car, but I'm okay with that based on how I'll use it. My guess is that the larger dimensions of the 991 are more apparent when comparing the C2 from the earlier generations.

Yeah, it's all a matter of perspective. When I'm at a local PCA meet or event and you see the row of cars, the 991 parked next to a 997 always looks like it's a much bigger car. And if it is next to a 993 it looks downright huge. But, when I'm in my DD and commuting to work or whatever, and see a 991 on the road, it looks very much like a properly sized sports car. And personally, I'm a big fan of the interior of the 991 too, which of course is where any owner is spending his or her time.

You have yourself a very nice ride sir!

Parked next to a 993, the 991 looks like a Panamera!

Congrats! She's beautiful, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Did you roll into my neighborhood Saturday afternoon? I saw someone with a brown 997 turbo cabriolet turn into the neighborhood and making a U. I waved and I assume it's you waving back, there isn't that many brown 997's rolling around. I was washing my 997 at the time.

Littleton, you (or someone else) were on Mineral street, turned in and made a U turn.

I don't think I was down there any time in the last month.

Interestingly there is another 2008 Turbo Cabriolet in the Denver metro area in Macadamia Metallic with a Cocoa Brown top. I've seen the car and spoken with him at a Porsche Breakfast Club meeting. He has black wheels. They certainly aren't very common.

I wonder if it was that guy?

Here's a shot from the PBC run down to the Edelweiss last year where both of us participated. Mine is on the right, his is on the left.
