Arrow Best ECU Tune for a 997.2 Turbo S

I just bought a '12 997.2 Turbo S and absolutely love it! I've been thinking about getting a tune, but I'm split about which one to go with.

I'm trying to decide between the following:

  1. GIAC
  2. Cobb
  3. Agency Power
  4. Eurocharged
  5. Softronic
  6. Ultimate Motorwerks
Any advice, suggestions, or experience with the above tunes would be greatly appreciated!

Id research #1, 2 and 6 from your list and determine which one best fits your needs.

I personally elected to go with Cobb for our '11 turbo S because it was best for me and my plans and I have no regrets.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 listed above.

Too many people like to argue what is "best" for them without considering what might be best for someone else.

Thanks for the advice Andy! I've heard a lot of good things about Ultimate Motorwerks!

I have the tune from Ultimate Motorwerks and it is great. I would talk to Kevin before you make a decision. He can also do an PDK tune to match your ECU tune. You will be doing yourself a favor by talking to Kevin no matter who you decide to use.

I have the UMW tune although mine is a 997.1. I've posted some dyno graphs with my mods before..

My buddy 99gdzra (can't recall his exact screen name) has the Cobb on his 997.2 and has real world data from his dragstrip runs.

Shadow993 has a Cobb on his 997.1 as well.

We are all local to DFW so we should get together sometime..

I've got the UMW and fell in love with the car all over again. Give Kevin a call!

I went with Sportec since it was installed at the Porsche Plano dealership and they support it. No issues bringing in the car for maintenance or warranty since they sell it and install it. I think all the tunes are pretty close to each other in performance.

Consider contacting Kevin at UMW; especially since you have a PDK. To run 1.6 bars of boost, the clamping force of the PDK should be increased, as well as, PDK tuning to communicate with the ECU tuning, to prevent slipping and PDK limp mode at such boost level.

I've had UMW, Cobb, and GIAC. Nobody beats Kevin for customer service, platform knowledge, and drivability. The GIAC tune on my 996tt cab was just garbage (terrible fueling maps, a crate engine waiting for a place to happen).

Talk to him, if you don't come away impressed, go another route.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the advice. I was leaning towards UMW (Kevin) all along, but just wanted some extra reassurance!

Yeah, I'm very happy with my Cobb tune. I had purchased the car with a Europipe and Sportec tune. I then had Cobb Plano do a custom calibration and picked up 46hp and over 100lb/ft of torque! To say I was impressed is an understatement, and car still drives like stock.

46 HP & 100 lb/ft over stock or over the Sportec tune?
