Streaming over bluetooth or USB? 2009 TT
I just got my 2009 TT this weekend (Dream car for awhile). It doesn't seem to recognize my Nexus phone in USB (I assume just old car tech), and I am not sure if you can stream via bluetooth.
In PCM 2 can you stream via bluetooth? Does the USB connection actually work with smartphones?

2009 cars have PCM 3.0. I think you can stream Bluetooth calls if properly equipped, but not music.

The USB connection works with iOS/iPods but I'm not sure about other devices. PCM 3 is able to control iOS from the dashboard. I keep an iPod classic in the center console full-time, or switch to my iPhone when I want to stream. There is no Bluetooth audio streaming, but there is Bluetooth phone. Pretty basic tech but there are lots of threads about upgrading if you're into that.

Hmm. Bluetooth works fine with my iPhone6+ although I don't like using the phone while driving. I wonder if there was a PCM bug/update in this regard.

I got an NEX8100 to replace my old PCM. I can use BT with the car, but hearing anyone and them hearing me over the BBI exhaust is a whooooooooooole other issue so it's worthless. My point, if you have an exhaust, don't plan on using BT for calls. But an aftermarket unit streams music, the 09 PCM unit does not.

I wonder if a Mobridge unit would stream music on PCM 3.0. I have one on my PCM 2.1, and it works very well for streaming music and calls. It's not a cheap option, but it sure works well.

I have had a Bluetooth issue since I got my car and believe it is a bug. I can connect via BT but it will eventually crash the unit. Reproducible 100% of the time. Have done it on multiple devices and could never sort it out. I now just turn off BT when I drive the car.

I always thought the PCM 3.0 was th one big advantage of an 09 over an 07/8, my 07 streams easily with the dension, music/sat radio whatever. Gotta be a bug.
I did have a cayenne with the 3.0 and it always worked well with my iPhone.

2.1 and 3.0 are both outdated at this point. It's not much of an advantage.
For me, the pleasure that I get from the car has nothing to do with the stereo. Looking forward to a PCA drive to Estes Park tomorrow. I probably won't listen to any music during the drive.
