Default Exhaust Soot

Question for the braintrust .....

Softronics tune, GMG exhaust and now I have some exhaust soot on the rear fender like she is running rich ....

Y-pipe and Plenum are $$$ and from what I researched on here not really worth the dollars ...

Any thoughts on a fix .....

Thanks guys ...

Absent any engine misbehavior or a CEL nothing to worry about.

Soot happens.

(IIRC for every pound of gasoline burned the engine emits 19lbs of carbon, some in the form of soot.)

Also, not all of what you see has to be soot. Some of it can and will be rubber dust.

The back of the is a low pressure area and it acts to pull dirt and what have you into this area and some stuff will stick to the car probably do to some static electricity.

That is a good thing that the soot is equal on both sides. I have read, if there is some cylinder scoring on #6 cylinder (most likely b/c of cooling issue there), it will show soot heavier on the left side. So you don't have to worry about that.

It is better to run a tad rich than too lean. Yes just keep an eye on it, I think you are fine.
