Default Porsche's rules on tires

I recently had some work done at the house and as a result of careless workers, ended up with a sheet metal screw through a mostly new MPSS. The wife's kid hauler took an identical screw, so I know it happened at home

I know that Porsche is against a patched/plugged tire, so I get to replace one.
Given the car's electronic gizmos, etc, does that mean that I get to replace TWO tires instead of one? It would stand to my logic that the car is looking for tires that are worn relatively the same?

Any thoughts here?

How old are tires? Mileage?

Location of screw?

Patch and plug from inside.

Screw was in the middle of the tire between two ribs. Tires are 2 or 3 years old, with 4k miles

A new tire is about 9 /32. If you are at least 6/32 you might be ok with plug and patch from inside. No tracking no autoX.

If less than 6/32 replace both tires on that axel. Or order one shaved tire from Tire Rack.

Regardless, repair tire and save as an emergency spare.

I actually plan to go back to the roofers and ask them to pay because they left sheet metal screws everywhere on the gutter job. They will likely not do anything and I'm not the vengeful kind.

I was just more curious what Porsche's official stance was. No patching I get, but replace 1 or in pairs.

Is that the white book in the glove box? What a novel idea!

Thanks!

You should not plug the tire, but patch from the inside such that the rubber patch / tail fills the hole and vulcanizes. You should be fine if this is done by a proper technicians. I would add my 2-cents that I would not track a car with a patched tire and I would always be nervous at higher speeds such as over 100mph...This link may help you:

Porsche is also against the Michelin Pilot Super Sport as it's not an N spec tire. I wouldn't worry about it. Take it to a qualified tire repair shop and have it patched as mentioned above. Most good repairs are a combination of a patch and a plug.

I've got a bunch of runs I'll end up doing over 100 due to testing a bunch of mods with Kevin from UMW (I'm one of the first of his new exhaust testers among other things). I'm not going to risk it, but on a DD I would definitely go that route.

^OK...but Keep an eye on tire pressure...properly vulcanized patches MAY only slow leak, but they should not fly apart...I guess you can use this tire for your "test and tune" and get yourself some new ones after you get the car set up.

I have done a plug from outside kit twice on the TT and driven several more K miles till it was time to replace both. Had no choice, as it was miles from home and did not want to tow. I am against the goop bottle for the mess it makes.

Each time, meant to follow up with an inside plug&patch, but just a DD and no track or high speed anyway.
