Default Deposit on 2010 997.2 TT , anyone know this car in Houston

Looking at a 2010 997.2 TT Car is Black / Black 44K mi

VIN WP0AD2A9XAS766163

I have a deposit on this car and the dealer got it from the auto auction in Houston. I am trying to track the history of the car before I do the PPI.

Car is located in Houston TX, was bought as a Certified Pre Owned from Porsche North Houston in 2012. However the certification is no longer good since car was sold from dealer to auction (I believe).

eBay Listing

Carfax

Thanks,
Chris

Heated / vented with head crests and PDK with paddles, what's not to like?
Have you plugged in the car yet?
have you decoded the trim and options yet?

Wow!

I'm a stick guy, but overall this is one nice looking turbo for the money. Would be good to get some history, and some warranty/cpo out of it, but really nice options.

Reading eBay ads from dealers like that sometimes makes my head spin...but the car looks awesome. Hope there's not much history. And you already likely know that a good carfax history is meaningless these days.

Good luck with it...hope you get it!

Eric, love the looks of the car too....Thing drives great..

Just would love to know why the car went through the auction in the first place. The saying goes "If It is Too Good To Be True".

Love the car, just can't figure why they have to sell to me for this price.

I Will call Porsche North Houston tomorrow, hopefully know why they auctioned this car. I can also get the service history.

I have been through this situation before; it probably isn't true for all Porsche dealerships but more than one told me they send cars to auction that need substantial work. I would get a thorough PPI, but it does look like a great deal if things check out. Good luck.

definitely not a 1 owner car. from reading the carfax, there were at least 2 if not 3 owners.

I would have to talk to the shop or previous owner. with 44k on it an extended warranty will be $$$$

I would also go over the car with paint meter.

Thanks all for the excellent feed back.

Good news so far. I tracked down the dealership that serviced the car, certified it (back in 2012) and I think even ran it to the auction. Turns out that I used to work with the pre-owned manager, he says the car should be clean, he looked up the records and even recognized the past owners name. I will get with their service department to to go through the service records.

Dealership manager is gonna have F&I gal call me to discuss possible Easy Care warranty.

Anything in particular I should be on the lookout for with a 2010 997.2 TT.

Thanks

yes, just watch for all those cars with plastic aero kits and beer cans as exhaust tips that will try to race on public roads. Ignore and enjoy !

Did anything ever come out of this? Saw this same car and a google search brought me here. Seems like a really good deal (too good to be true) Also, the dealership selling this car has FRIGHTENING reviews.

I decided to pass on the car. I spoke with Porsche North Houston who sold the car in 2012 and serviced the car. Turns out the last maintainence record they show was in 2012 @ 7900mi. The most recent records were for tire mounting and wheel repair on a couple of occasions.

I wanted to warranty the car, but if there aren't complete maintainence records the service company could turn down a repair. I think is better to find a maintained car with actual records or a CPO car.

For what it's worth, I would have had to spend up to a couple of grand on maintainence, $790 for EasyCare inspection and a 24 month warranty would have run $3,500 to $6,400. Plus car needs new rears very soon.

In the end, seems better to get a lower mile car with CPO and spend a bit more, say about $85k.

Thanks for the reply. I really want this car, but the reviews for the dealership have me on the fence. I am in San Francisco, so there is no way that I can physically look at the car. Have you seen it in person?

I have seen the car and driven it. It was night however. The car looked pretty clean to me on the inside. The paint did have swirls and some knicks (black paint). Needs back tires. My main concern was no maintainence records. And if sold by Porsche North Houston to the auction (why on earth did they not retail the car). Also, the car took several runs through the auction to sell over a few month period (dealer, really did't want to retail this car or even wholesale it to another Houston dealer?).

Also, in the pictures look at the right side of the air box in the engine compartment, the foam is scratched off the right side filter, that concerned me a litle too.
