Well, I called the local Sna- On rep from the advice of a local mechanic and to my surprise the Snap-On representative was extremely happy to meet me in his trusty company van to provide the proper T25 Torx, Safety Plus, Five Star Pointed, Socket Mounted, Snap-On Bit to complete my DIY.

When he told me the little socket was $ 29.95 and tax, I quickly realized as to why he was so eager to assist me. . . . .

Damage done and I'm about to clean my damn MAFs!! LoL

DIY DONE!
Easy factor .5 , sphincter factor 5.5, but that's what made it fun. Do it right, $ 40.00, but screw it up (twice) $ 450.

I will clear the code tomorrow and taking the car to a Euro Show Saturday. If I see more Engine Lights, you guys will know. May be Right side (bank 2) O2 sensors next.....

drh,
We're been through this. The MAF Torx bolt is a T25 five point, not a six point, safety bolt. A standard six point Torx safety driver will not work.

Sorry about that...I skipped right by that one. They must have changed the pattern (obviously) on the 997. My 996TT has a 6-point T20
