Default Battery suggestions

So 7 years in and 27k miles this baby needs a new battery. Hoping it fixes the occasional 3k rev at startup too.

What do you guys recommend for a new battery?

Interstate is a brand.

I think Walmarts battery is called Everlast.

And AutoZone's battery is called Duralast.

Yes sears diehard's are great. But I've never used one in the Porsches.

Get a dry cell battery instead of (leaky) lead acid, preferably an AGM (advance glass mat) made by Interstate or Optima.
Fully charge the battery on a charger prior to the installation.

Optima's are great...but they don't fit in the tray without modifications. I believe Interstate and Duralast have AGM in the H7 size.

Got a Duralast AGM perfect fit. About three weeks ago. FWIW, the startup high rev crap has not happened again.

Campbell, was that an H7 Platinum you bought? I see that Pep Boys has them for $199.99. Is that where you got yours? TIA

Personally I think the main brands - Interstate, Duralast, whatever, are just fine. H7. Not worth stressing, just grab one and slam it in (takes 5 minutes).

Yep I believe that is it (however there is an AGM Bosch and several standard lead-acid so double-check) -- and yes Pep Boys! It's kinda funny thinking of going there for higher-end European car stuff, as your first thought is pine tree air fresheners and chromed F150 taillights, but I have had good results with them and it's quick in-and-out. They had the special 12-pt socket for my recent steering wheel swap too, which neither Sears nor my local hardware store had.

If you want to save some weight, I use a Die Hard E2 group 47' it uses the last hole in the battery tray. Same specs as a RoW GT3 battery

Thanks all. I know it's not a big decision but just figured I would ask since I haven't shopped in a long time. Got a duralast gold. Hoping it fixes the over rev. Battery I believe was original, I checked the life of the old one and was pretty low on charge.

Btw only autozone had the battery I needed in stock.

So far so good and i've started the car a good 10+ times since yesterday.

I think this may have been the solution. I originally thought it was the tune and that bothered me since I was worried they did a shabby job. With the battery being 7 years old and low on juice I'm glad I changed the battery anyways, I have a 5 year warranty. I also read that if you allow your battery to go dead it can be a major problem because you won't be able to get in your trunk since it's battery powered. Not sure if that's the truth, but some guy on 6speed had to flatbed his. So worth while checking your battery if you're around the 5 year mark.

Hopefully no more overrevs!!! ...but i'll report back in a few days or so. This is a DD so I drive it often.
