997.1 Turbo Manual Clutch Smell
#16
Mine is in the shop now having the clutch replaced. I felt it slipping for about a week or so but figured it will last until I put it away for the winter.
This was not to be as it went from slightly slipping to catastrophic failure within a short time.
With flywheel replacement looking at a bill over $6000 (ouch).
Lesson learned, if you suspect clutch slippage, get it checked out ASAP.
Look forward to getting my car back next week.

$6000 for parts and labor clutch change? Holy crap you got taken for a ride....unless you got a Triple disc.
You can get a "Sachs 2.5" with a new flywheel for $2,495. Labor should be $1000 or so.

Dear Macster, hope you can throw some light on this one. Today my gear shift refused to go into 1st, 3rd & 5th. After a bit of convincing pressure, managed to get into third, thereafter, all gear changes were easy as pie, back to normal. This is the second time this has happened. Last time was about three weeks back. Is this a serious concern, or a (997.1 TT manual) common issue? Your wealth of knowledge and experience is why I am asking you this and would greatly appreciate your insight.
