Default New member, need advice!

Hi guys,

I recently acquired a 2012 911 turbo S a couple months ago so I believe I am in the right section?

Anyways, I am looking for rims and have my eyes set on the ADV.1 005 track spec rims. I am thinking about going 20's unless someone can advise me otherwise. I am also unsure of the offsets I should go with.

Another questions, I have been looking for lowering springs for my year car and cannot find any. Can anyone help me in this department also? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hi and welcome! You are at the right place. I recommend that you check out Sharkwerks website. As I recall, they do not recommend putting 20's on a 997. They do sell wheels and lowering springs so they should be able to help you with that as well.

20" wheels on a 997 is a bad idea for many reasons. Stick with 19s.

I had 20"a for about 1 month, although it looked great the ride quality, and over all performance were lacking. The acceleration was suffering with the larger diameter wheel. Stick with 19s and good choice of adv

^^+^agreed.

And it also depends on where you live and the kinds of roads you have access to, and how much you really drive the TT. I was in WA state this week and the roads were so smooth and flawless ...totally different than where we live...

You've gotten some great advice already. I'll add that I spent several months researching wheels and the ADV's were atop my list. that is until I realized that they were ridiculously overpriced. They are very nice looking wheels, and the 2-piece track spec should be lighter than stock, but IMO they are not worth $10K for a set. If you shop around you will find quality good looking wheels for half that (if not less) and you can put the balance of the savings into other mods... and believe me there will be "other mods" LOL!!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm super glad I joined and posted before pulling the trigger. I have looked at a lot of wheels before settling on adv. I already have 590rs HRE wheels on my M5, wife said get something different. I got quotes for several different rims I was interested in and they all seem to be in the same ball park. Almost double the cost for the rims I got for the M5! Sheesh.

I'll be keeping it stock for awhile per my promise to the wife. I modded the M5 quite a bit and she was not too happy about that lol.

Op congrats on the car. I have advs in 20's I only mount them when I take wife to dinner they're pretty shiney and look expensive for all other use stick with 19's. ADV is also not known for they're quality either I have found some small machining defects with mine.

I'd like to lower the car a bit after I get the rims installed. I read installing just springs on stock shocks are no good, is this true? I also read that the Bilstein PSS9 Damptronic are the better route to take.

You're on So Cal so you should visit Wheel Enhancement in West LA. They know what they are doing and have a good selection of CL wheels, BTW stick with 19's.....

Given you stick with oem widths and tire sizes go more aggressive with offset. 45-47f : 33-36r
