Default Remove/delete rear bumper covers (aka bumperettes) 2009 TT

Had someone lightly tap me at a stop light and put a crease and impression of the screw from their license plate in the right bumperette. Does anyone know if I can just delete the bumperette entirely? I'd rather not have to go through the hassle of having it replaced and repainted. I think the rear might look better without them anyways.

I've done it on my 993, the process is similar on the 997. You have to remove the bumperette supports from the rebar and then fill the bumper holes. My body shop charged me $600 for the job which I thought was very reasonable.

I'm contemplating doing the same on the 997 but my rear bumper is still pristine even after a year of heavy usage so I might just wait until it needs a re-paint.

No, there's holes behind them and the metal bumper underneath actually has brackets that go into them =\.

Wow I'm surprised it was that cheap.

Thanks for the info ilko. I guess I'll be replacing/repainting the damaged one since it will likely be close to the same cost. Bummer, I was hoping for an easy fix.
