Default iphone / bluetooth questions for use in a 997.1

This got mentioned on the other thread I posted about my car.

Initially I discpounted a dension or a mobridge on cost.
Having done a bit more of searching the dension looks semi sensible on price, so after a bit more info.

I have searched for this info, and there is a huge amount of posts etc out there, but frankly too much to read through.

So here goes with a couple of questions:
  1. does the external mic have to be used with these ?
I was rather hoping to use the existing porsche one
  2. where does the unit itself get fitted, behind the pcm unit, in the centre console, or somewhere else ?
  3. How about the lead with the sockets on it, does that come out in the centre arm rest cubby, or the glove box ?
  4. does it require having to cut a hole in the trim to fit it ?

I am less concerned about music streaming, and more concerned about phone use and phone charging.

Oh, and I am looking to install myself, so any pointers to fitting instructions would be great

Cheers,
John.

I'll chime in on this and you can email me as well.

Use the Dension mic - you don't want to splice mic cables as the gauge is very thin, and actually, you'll get better pickup on the mic up high compared to buried in the steering column.

Non cd changer vehicle, or cd changer and you wish to bypass it - the unit goes right behind the PCM, all cables to glove box, out of sight.

CD changer, wish to retain it, unit goes up front in the trunk.

The dongle with the connectors is best placed in glove box, out of sight.

Should not need to cut holes, nor damage/destroy any panels.

We send extensive detailed installation/setup instructions to our customers when we ship the units. Most install on their own. We also have a list of some good pro installers depending on location.

Email me anytime: eric@bumperplugs.com

And yes, we ship worldwide.
