FYI- Depending on the type of wax or polymer finish you use, you may NOT want the whole thing detailed prior to applying the film.

I use Rejex exclusively, and at the mfr's suggestion, my cars get the "Dawn" treatment first (strip of all wax and finish residue), then the film, then the Rejex. Film gets Rejex too. (Film will not stick to the Rejex)

That's the only way I will go. You'll find as many opinions on this subject as posters on the forum, btw. Just one guy's way to roll...

Appreciate the feedback!

The installer did tell me that although they are "detailing" the car, they cannot wax due to exactly what you mentioned above.

The 2nd pic is after the detail BEFORE the clear bra.
What HRE model are your wheels?

You should ask what type of 3M are they using? Some of their new stuff I heard does have a nice finish.

The other thing you should keep in mind is having them wrap around the edges. If this is being done at a dealership via mobile service it's most likely a precut kit and will not wrap around the edges. To wrap edges, the precut kit has to have some extra length around it. Good luck!

Have have the Xpel Ultimate on my car, and I love it. The hood is custom where the edges are all completely wrapped and the shield was removed before application. The rest was kit-cut and I'm very content with the margins. They are slight, and uniform everywhere. The more custom you go, the more money you will spend, for sure!
