Default Real Tiptronic Paddle Shift Steering Wheel

Hi,

I have been ordering parts like they are free because I really HATED the strange and awkward shift buttons on the steering wheel. Our cars deserve better - MUCH better.

Well, several thousand dollars later....

Last night I spent six hours fiddling and built myself a paddle shift Tiptronic steering wheel that does not require any dealer programming.

In the pictures below you can see that I used my factory thicker steering wheel. I'll have to this again on my super THICK Techart steering wheel

I have a solution! The world will never be the same.

wow, ingenious is right! If this is truly a unique solution you need to get a patent issued before disclosing how you did it. then you need to start selling this on ebay

This is really great! And well done! I'd be interested in learning some of the details. (But I can swear that one of the German Tuners makes the paddle conversion for the TIP. Maybe I am confused?)

You are very clever noodling this out.

Just me, but with 120K experience divided equally between buttons and paddles, prefer buttons.

And prefer not radio/phone controls on the steering wheel.

But thicker steering wheel,

On Sunday I set out for a quick drive around town. Well, I had so much fun with the paddles that I ended up driving over 200 miles. I was so excited I had it in Manual Mode the entire time.

I ordered another set of parts and am doing the same modification on my Techart steering wheel now.

I have the steering pictured above for sale in the Classifieds section if anyone is interested.

Having owned Tiptronic Audis for years with both buttons and paddles I'll take paddles any day. Buttons don't do it for me. Great job on the conversion!

This is on a 2008 Turbo.

I just did the mod on my Techart steering wheel.

The steering pictured above is now for sale in the classifieds section.

Hi,

Not sure if can say this here. So if I shouldn't please let me know.

Tip owners seem to really like this mod.

I do about one of these conversions every couple of weeks.

Doing these conversions is tricky work. I thought that I would get faster - but it still takes me almost an entire day.

I sell this mod on ebay for $1,500. You may have seen it there.

I can do a special Rennlister deal at $1,350.

This price is for the modification to your wheel.

If I have a spare wheel on hand we can do a swap or I can loan you the wheel. I'll send you a picture of the condition of the wheel to make sure the condition is acceptable to you.

I love to see people make money off their idea.

Not for me, but it is a great idea and deserves every dollar of the reasonable asking price.

Personally I think it's over priced. Besides for anyone driving the car on a tracK with the Tip it's way faster shifting in the automatic mode then pushing a button. There is a small lag when shifting manually on upshifts noticeable when shifting near redline. The only benefit I do see is on the downshift entering a corner if you don't have the sport mode on.

Sorry I am going to say Pass on this one $1,500 and no performance gain is not worth it to me.

My Opinion
Ian
